How much does botox treatment cost in Adelaide?
Whats the price I have to pay for botox injections in South Australia?
Such a common question. Clinics usually charge between $200 – $500 for Botox in Adelaide and usually has to be repeated every 3 – 4 months for a consistent good look.
What is Botox?
BOTOX is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to treat different muscle problems and pains. It is prescribed to treat the abnormal head position and neck pain that happens with cervical dystonia (CD) in adults and to treat certain types of eye muscle problems (strabismus) or abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm) in people who are equal to or older than 12 years. Botulinum toxin is a lethal naturally occurring substance, but when carefully isolated and purified can be used as an effective and powerful medication.
BOTOX for cosmetic indications is a simple, physician-administered, non-surgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe excessive sweating, forehead Lines, frown Lines and crow’s Feet. It is the only therapy that is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA). BOTOX is also injected into the skin to treat the symptoms of severe underarm sweating, also known as severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, when medicines used on the skin do not work well.
Botulinum toxin is a medication and a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is known to be very toxic with an LD50 of roughly 0.005–0.05 µg/kg. Despite its deadly toxic effect, a few times it is also used in very small doses to treat muscle spasms. Popularly known by its trade name, Botox, botulinum toxin is currently used commonly in various settings for cosmetic procedures. In cosmetics, a Botox injection that consists of a small dose of botulinum toxin can be used to prevent formation of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles.
The wrinkle preventing effect of Botox lasts for approximately 3-4 months, up to 6 months. The providers of Botox Cosmetics include dermatologists, plastic surgeons, cosmetic physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and medical spas. Botox, in addition to its cosmetic applications, is also currently used in the treating spasms and dystonias, which it effectively suppresses for 60-70 days. The main conditions include: Cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) (a neuromuscular disorder involving the head and neck), Blepharospasm (excessive blinking), Severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), Achalasia (failure of the lower oesophageal sphincter to relax), Local intradermal injection of BTX-A is helpful in chronic focal painful neuropathies. The analgesic effects are not dependent on changes in muscle tone, Migraine and other headache disorders, although the evidence is conflicting in this indication.
The other uses of botulinum toxin type A that are widely known but not specifically approved by FDA (off-label uses) include treatment of: Pediatric incontinence, incontinence due to overactive bladder, and incontinence due to neurogenic bladder, Anal fissure, Spastic disorders associated with injury or disease of the central nervous system including trauma, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, or cerebral palsy, Focal dystonias affecting the limbs, face, jaw, or vocal cords, TMJ pain disorders, Diabetic neuropathy, Wound healing, Excessive salivation, Vocal cord dysfunction (VCD) including spasmodic dysphonia and tremor, Reduction of the Masseter muscle for decreasing the size of the lower jaw, treatment and prevention of chronic headache and chronic musculoskeletal pain are emerging uses for botulinum toxin type A. In addition, there is evidence that Botox may aid in weight loss by increasing the gastric emptying time.
Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

Price / Cost, Rhinoplasty, also known as the plastic surgery of the nose or a nose job, is a type of cosmetic surgery that is performed in order to reshape the nose. It is usually performed to improve the functioning and appearance of a human nose. According to Greek Rhinos means “Nose” and Plassein means “to shape”. It is a very popular surgery that can make profound differences not only in the balance of facial features, but also in a person’s self-esteem.
Similarly as the other surgery, rhinoplasty carries the same risks and its probable side effects include bleeding, infection, and reactions to medications or anesthesia. Apart from these, the rhinoplasty surgery also includes several risks that are unique to the plastic surgery of the nose. Its various other risks include burst blood vessels that can lead to red spots and small scars on the underside of the nose. The patient may also require a revisionary second procedure at some point in the future to remove or correct tissue.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Things to know about Eyelid / Eye Lift Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Adelaide, South Australia
Eyelid surgery also known as an eye lift, in the medical terms is also known as blepharoplasty. Eyelid surgery is a popular cosmetic plastic surgery to remove excess skin, fat or muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The surgery can also treat another medical problem called ptosis. Ptosis is known as the condition of drooping eyelid, which is caused by poor muscle tone or nerve damage. Ptosis causes the eyelids to hang very low and block vision.
Drooping eyebrows or wrinkles cannot be treated through eyelid surgery; only drooping eyelids can be treated. Eyelid surgery improves baggy skin under the eyes, sinking upper eyelids or drooping eyelashes that impair vision. Often blepharoplasty is performed with another cosmetic surgery like facelift or brow lift in order to improve droopy eyebrows, facial sagging and crow’s feet. Another method, called the transcutaneous technique requires an incision along the eyelash margin. Through the incision, excess skin, loose muscle and fat can be removed. The incision line fades after a short amount of time.
As the age of a person grows excess of skin forms in the eye area, due to which the skin loses its elasticity. Fatty tissue may get accumulate under the skin, due to which your eyes will look older. Even though after taking good skincare and eyecare, wrinkles, puffiness and drooping eyelids will catch you up and these aging processes leaves the eyes to appear tired, wrinkled or puffy. Even younger people can face these aging effects due to genetic factors and body chemistry. This plastic surgery can help you to restore a youthful, young and refreshing appearance to your eyes.
The candidates who are physically healthy, well-informed about the surgical procedures and emotionally stable are best suited for the blepharoplasty surgery. The candidates should have at least 35 years of age for the surgery, even through genetic factors may indicate treatment for younger people. The candidates who have dry eyes, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, glaucoma, or Graves’ disease are not eligible for the eyelid surgery. Even the anatomy including bone and supporting structure are considered for the eligibility.
The blepharoplasty surgery is generally conducted under local anesthesia — while you are sedated, numbed and awake — in an outpatient surgery center, surgeon’s office or hospital. For the surgery general anesthesia (meaning, while you are asleep) may be used. The time of the surgery would be approximately three hours, based on the extent of the procedure. The patients can return back home within hours of the eyelid surgery.
Following the surgery the eyes of the patent will be lubricated and covered with bandage. Oral medications might be helpful but with discomfort and pain. The patient will have to follow a list of instructions for several days following the surgery. The list of instructions include use of cold compresses, the proper way to clean your eyes, use of lubricating eye drops, head elevation, no makeup, no alcohol, no television and no contact lenses. Sunglasses and protective sun block are required for several weeks.
Breast Augmentation
Posted by Adelaide Cosmetic Surgeon in Uncategorized on February 23rd, 2010
Breast Augmentation also referred to as breast enlargement, breast enhancement or breast implants, is known as Augmentation mammoplasty in medical terms. It is a type of plastic surgery that changes the size and shape of a womens breast. It is also known as an aspect of male-to-female sex reassignment surgery. The price / cost associated with having breast enlargement surgery can vary dramatically from surgeon to surgeon and clinic to clinic. Your best solution to find the right surgeon for you would be to have multiple consultations.
The size of the breast is diminished with age or as a result of pregnancy. Breast implant is a prosthesis used to make smaller breasts appear balanced and larger. Under the Breast Augmentation surgery silicone bag (prosthesis) or saline breast implants are inserted beneath the breast (submammary) or beneath the breast and chest muscle (subpectoral) and then the bag is filled with saline also known as salt water.
Under the Breast Augmentation surgery the insertion can be made at various locations, such as periareolar which is at the edge of the areola (brown area consisting of nipple and areola); under the breast at the breast fold; in the armpit (axillary); within the areola; or in the umbilical area. The thinnest scar is usually in the areola. The umbilical incision approach is used with an endoscope (tube with a light for visualization and placement of the breast implant).
Augmentation mammoplasty is done to enhance an under developed breast or a breast that has become small after child birth. This is a simple surgery which does not affect one’s personal life but improves the breast related activities, such as breast feeding. This prosthesis expands the breast area to give an increased cup size, gives a better contour, and more cleavage. This surgery is performed under normal anesthesia or short acting general anesthesia. This is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery in countries like US, says the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
The total process of breast enhancement surgery takes several weeks to get completed and it needs a close communication and co-operation between the surgeon and the patent. There are four types of incisional approaches available, which include Areola, Inframammary fold, Navel, and Transaxillary. The placements can be done in subglandular or in submuscular ways. Currently there are three types of implants available, which include Cohesive Gel implants, Saline implants and Silicone implants.
For the first few weeks of the breast augmentation, the breast will be very sensitive. So the patients after surgery are suggested to follow a few instructions for fast recovery. The instructions include limiting movement and getting plenty of rest. Any activity that involves lifting, bending, or straining should be avoided, as it can increase pain and soreness and delay healing. The patients can return to their regular work, but are limited to the above fast recovery instructions for a limited time as instructed by the surgeon.
Breast reduction, breast reconstruction and breast lifts are also very common surgical procedures performed by surgeons to help women that have suffered through back pain, breast cancer and lactation degridation due to nursing mixed with the wonders of gravity.
Liposuction (Lipoplasty)
Posted by Adelaide Cosmetic Surgeon in Uncategorized on February 22nd, 2010
Liposuction is a surgical process that removes excess of fat from the deposits located between the muscle and skin from many different sites of the body. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery operation that improves the body’s contour. It is also known as lipoplasty (fat modeling), liposculpture suction lipectomy or simply lipo (suction-assisted fat removal). Price / Cost can vary tremendously, all depends on the surgeon you use and the amount you get done.
Under the Liposuction surgical process the fat can be removed from different areas of the body ranging from the abdomen, thighs and buttocks, to the neck, backs of the arms and elsewhere. Under this surgical process small stainless steel tube, called a cannula (from the Latin word for reed, tube, and cane) is used. The cannula is connected to a powerful suction pump and inserted into the fat through small incisions in the skin. Fat removal is accomplished as the suction cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse and thus result in an improved body contour.
The removal of fat from the body in one session is limited to several factors. The final decision is made by the operating physician and the patient. The surgery may be performed under general or local anesthesia. The removal of much excess fat from the body has negative aspects also. The surgical risk increases as the increase in the amount of fat removed. This procedure is suggested for the patients who are most probably fit before the surgery and have not smoked for a certain period of time.
Similar to any other plastic surgery, liposuction carries some amount of risk. The complications in this surgery are rare, which might include nerve damage, infection, seizures, and negative reactions to anesthesia. In order to minimize risk it is suggested to the patent to have a thorough physical examination before the liposuction surgery. The patient may also have a risk of experiencing adverse side effects, such as bruising and scarring.
The patients who want to reduce fat from their body are made available with various types of liposuction procedures. All the procedures use a wand-like instrument called a cannula to remove unwanted fat. Under the ultrasonic assisted liposuction (UAL) surgery, sound waves are used to liquefy the fat before it is removed and the lipo selection surgery uses the same concept without disturbing the surrounding tissue. Under the Tumescent liposuction procedure high amount of anesthetic is injected into the area being treated; the wet and super-wet techniques are variations of this type of liposuction. Power assisted liposuction (PAL) procedure involves a motor-powered cannula, which allows the surgeon to use smaller movements and make the experience more comfortable for the patient.
The Liposuction surgery works best for the areas of the face and body that results in overall weight loss. The fat deposits can be removed from the places, such as thighs, abdomen, buttocks, flanks, hips, upper arms, chin, jowels, and neck generally respond well. This surgery is also chosen by men and women to reduce the breast size. This procedure helps in less scarring than other types of plastic surgery.
